We took a little break and were not posting anything new for over a week! But every vacationeventually draws to an end. So here we are. Actually, we were not really on vacation. We were just busy with our glamorous projects with respect to few things that we anticipate rolling out this year. It’s been a long time since the last time we reviewed a place in Montreal. Given that we have a category that we thought of brining up and experience to share, now is the time…
There is something about Montreal that is not so cool. After 3AM, there are practically no places open that serve quality food. For the exception of few tiny restaurants, only McDonald’s and Tim Horton’s serves food all night. But, we would not go that far as to considering these two as quality food destination. Something not so impressive for a big city with 3-4 million population.
Yet, there are few places (less than 10) that have been serving food 24/24 for very long time. And not just food, quality food at affordable prices.
Chenoy’s
The important thing is that we are not talking here about a place that serves the best smoke meat or the place that has the best poutine. We are talking about a place that serves a large variety of quality food. Then name? Chenoy’s. Although all three locations are relatively far from downtown, it’s worth it. The food is good, the personnel is friendly and the bill is not too high. Their Cesar Salad and Cheese cakes are remarkably good too.
Dunn’s
Another cult location, right in the heart of downtown. The only difference between Dunn’s and Chenoy’s, aside from being Deli Restaurants, Dunn’s is more Smoke Meat Oriented Joint and is little bit more expensive. Chenoy’s is more oriented on generally popular food with slightly lower prices. There is something special about Dunn’s that started few years back. Dunn’s is now a franchise with 5 locations. The good thing is that they are actively managing the quality control and the food is identically good in all locations.
Amir
Amir is known for serving quality home-style Lebanese food. Their franchise on the corner of Maisonneuve and Crescent is one of the preferred spots for people that love to Club on Crescent Street. Tasty Food, Prime Location and Affordable Prices are things that make Amir MaisonneuveLocation the preferred daily destination for Montrealers and Tourists. Although Amir is also franchise, the downtown location’s location serves better food and has friendlier staff than any other Amir known to us.
La Banquise Resto
Another Montreal Cult Location, only few minutes away from downtown. We’ve mentioned a place that specilizes in smoke meat, there was another place that serves mediterranian food. La Banquise specilzises in Poutines. In fact, it’s a tiny spot that serves close to 50 different varieties of poutine. Some die-hard poutine lovers believe that La Banquise serves the best poutine in town. Could be very much so, but very subjective.They also serve burgers but certainly not the best burgers in town.
Angela’s
Another prime location that services different varieties of food 24/24. Yet Angela’s main specility is pizza and they deliver. This unique feature becomes extremely handy when you are just got back to your hotel room, drunk and hungry and doing any further travelling for food simply makes little sense. Given prime downtown location and the delivery service, Angela’s holds the crown as one of the top food destinations open 24/24.
Alto’s
Very similar to Angela’s. Similar menu, similar prices. One thing not to miss at Alto’s is their Meat Lover Pizza. Angela’s mainly specializes on tourists and Alto’s mainly serves the students in the McGill Ghetto.
